declared against unislamic customs
CHITRAL, 03 March 2010: A seminar jointly organized by Sunni and
Ismail leaders for the first time in Garam Chashma has called for
Jehad against expensive Un-Islamic customs and habits.

including Dr.Tajik and Amir wali, Regional and local Ismaili council
presidents and Khatib Jamia Mosque Garam Chashma addressed the
seminar. Islamuddin Principal Pamir Degree College Garam Chashma, in
his key note speech identified the areas where corrective measures
were required.
Through resolutions at the end of the Seminar, both the communities
decided to join hands to combat social evils, like drug abuse,
wasteful expenditure and deviant behavior among the youth.
Extravagant expenditures during marriage ceremonies and funeral
rites shall be discouraged. No one shall host marriage party,
involving dhol-damama, at night, which created temptations to use
intoxicants by the young generation. The people were urged to offer
collective condolences to bereaved families in mosques and Jamat
khanas instead of personal visits which caused avoidable expenses to
the already impoverished people.
The Seminar called for strict measures to combat cheating in exams,
which was destroying quality of education in this competitive world.
Unnecessary tournaments by money making and dubious societies were
criticized and it was demanded that only official tournaments of one
week’s duration should be allowed. The people were asked not to bail
out drug dealers. Parents were asked not to demand money for the
marriage of their daughters and should instead give them share in
property. Underage marriages should be discouraged.
A Peace Committee was proposed to be established to strengthen
communal harmony and cooperation to eradicate social evils through
close coordination with local administration.. --( CN report)
