CDF to formally register with Govt

CHITRAL, 02 Mar 2010: A meeting of Chitral Development Forum (CDF) was held in Islamabad on February 28, 2010 to discuss the future of the forum with regard to its proposed mandate, structure, and functions. The members agreed to formalize the forum by registering it with federal government under voluntary organization act. With 22 members a provisional executive committee was established to run the forum during interim period. The office bearers include Mr. Mohammad Wali Chairperson, Qazi Fazal Ellahi Vice Chairman, Mr. Sultan Mohammad Vice Chairman, Mr. Sherzad Ali Hyder General Secretary, Mr. Ayaz Zareen Joint Secretary and Mr. Ahmed Zarin Finance Secretary. Some Islamabad based well known and intellectual Chitralis i.e. Sahzada Siraj ul Mulk, Wing Commander (r) Fardad Ali Shah, who may not be able to spare time to participate fully in the forum, will provide strategic advise to the executive committee.

The primary responsibility of the committee will be to finalize the registration process, development a website for the forum and accelerate general membership process. The forum will be run under the provisional by-laws until a new bye-laws is approved by the government’s registration authority. This Forum is a multi-stakeholders based, bottom-up and people driven civil society initiative to facilitate decision making process both in public and private sectors by providing researched based technical inputs and strategic guidance for the development of Chitral. The Forum is a non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian and purely professional, technical and development organization with the objectives of providing information on strategic considerations and expert opinions to the decision maskers and development professionals.--(CN report)
