Snowfall exposes poor quality electric wires
CHITRAL,
30 Jan 10: One day snow fall in Chitral sent the electricity service for
a six over the Lowari pass. with the wapda authorities conveniently
decreeing that electric poles have fallen down on the Lowari pass and it
would take at least a week to approach and repair them.
What is more shocking is that poles in the town have fallen and
electricity wires of the main lines broken at various places. Every time
there is even minor snowfall, electric wires break and poles fall. This
all implies that the wire and pole quality installed by the wapda
authorities is substandard and installation done poorly.
There is a need for an inquiry into the matter and replacement of the
poles and wires with good quality stuff. --(GH Farooqui)
