Exhibition on Low & No Cost Teaching Aids on Early Childhood
Development & Education January 13-14, 2010
A Two days exhibition on Low Cost & No Cost teaching aids on Early
Childhood Development & Education (ECD&E) was held at Hashoo Foundation,
Human Development Resource Center, Rawalpindi. Young trainees developed
different teaching AV Aids by using the recycle and waste material.
Trainees prepared different items considering the theories, standards
and guidance of Dr. Maria Montessori, John Davey, Blooms and other
educational psychologists. Trainees created different learning corners
including EPL, Culture, Arts, Mathematics, Language and Home Corner.
These corners reflected the learning areas in early childhood focusing
on holistic development of children. This contemporary approach of
teaching enables the children to think critically and research
scientifically.
Objective behind this exhibition was to encourage teachers and parents
to develop Low & No Cost teaching audio-visual aids through recycling of
waste materials and available resources at local level. School teachers,
head teachers, principals, students from twin cities and other visitors
attended this exhibition and encouraged the young teachers on their
creative work.
To encourage the trainees’ efforts, visitors voted to select the best
learning corners in the exhibition and “Exercises of practical life”
section was voted as the best learning corner and was given a token
appreciation.
Training in Early Childhood Development & Education is one of the key
programs of Hashoo Foundation in which young women are being trained in
planning and managing Early Childhood Development centers. Since 2004,
Hashoo Foundation trained more than 400 teachers in ECD&E. 80% of them
were able to get job after completion of their training and 20% of the
trained young girls established their own ECD centers creating job for
other young women.
