Two Kalash girls become
Muslims
Chitral, 16 Dec 09: At a time when the annual Kalash religious
Festival Chitr Mas is in full bloom, two Kalash maidens have announced
relinquishing their forefathers religion and adoption of the Islamic
faith. Whereas Muslims in the area have welcomed the conversion,
Kalash elders have shown anguish and worry over the threat to their
centuries old culture. The two newly convert girls are Shazia d/o Mir
Jinnah of Brone village Bumburet and Aasti Gul d/o Noor shali resident
of Drazlown. The former is an intermediate student. --(GH farooqi)
