President acknowledges 'AKF' contribution


ISLAMABAD, 14 Oct 09: President Asif Ali Zardari expressed appreciation for the services of the Aga Khan Foundation, in the social welfare field. He expressed these views during a meeting with His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan spiritual leader of Ismaili Muslims, who is here on a two day visit to Pakistan. The president said his government was keen to work with the AKF for uplift of the northern areas, particularly to boost the flagging tourism industry. He said developmental projects being carried out in the area by the AKRSP would continue with government's support. The president briefed the Aga Khan on the establishment of Education city near Karachi and the proposed road linking Pakistan to Tajikistan via Afghanistan. The Aga Khan showed keen interest in both these projects. --(CN monitoring)
