work on Lowari Tunnel'

CHITRAL: Politicians representing different parties Saturday threatened
to stage protests if work on Lowari Tunnel was not resumed within 15
days.
A meeting to this effect which was attended by the District Nazim Haji
Maghfirat Shah, Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) ameer Maulana Ghulam Muhammad,
Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Said Ahmed, PML-N president
Fazlur Rahim, Awami Natoinal Party (ANP) president Muzaffar Shah, Jamiat
Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) president Qazi Fatehullah and others.
Speaking on the occasion, the leaders urged the local Member National
Assembly and Member Provincial Assembly to raise the issue with the
concerned authorities.
They threatened to hold protest if the government did not start work on
the project by October 10.
Work on the tunnel project was stopped four months ago and the Federal
Minister for Communication Arbab Alamgir visited the work site two
months back. He had pledged that work on the project would be resumed
within a month.
