Split Eid, first time in Chitral

CHITRAL,20 Sep 09: In a break from tradition, partial Eid was observed in Chitral on Sunday 20 Sep. In the past whenever a confusion arose in this regard, Chitralis always followed the decision of the Central moon sighting committee. This time however a deviation from the norm occurred, when Chitral Scouts decided to observe Eid on Sunday in accordance with the announcement of the provincial government. Eid congregations were held at the Scouts headquarters at Chitral and Drosh this morning. The rest of Chitral however stuck to their traditional stance of going with the center and thus shall observe Eid on Monday subject to the announcement by the central ruet hilal committee later in the evening. --(CN report)
