'Phophokan Goorzaina, zarooanan mahraka'

Children park inaugurated

CHITRAL 29 May 09: A children's park named in Khowar language as 'Phophokan Goorzain' (children's garden) was inaugurated at Chitral Scouts Headquarters (chawnai) in Chitral town. Commandant Chitral Scouts inaugurated the park on behalf of IGFC.  MNA, District Nazim, DCO, Heads of Departments & NGOs, Political & religious leaders were present on the occasion.

Commandant Chitral Scouts Colonel Sohail Iqbal explained the background and details of the park and thanked the 'Bank Alfalah' for sponsoring the park with Rs 0.7 million donation. He appreciated the efforts of his staff for the successful completion of this project. He said additional facilities like a bakery and a CSD like superstore would be setup for the benefit of the public.

Speakers appreciated the initiative and said it would provide a healthy outlet for children and families. Abdul Wali Advocate announced a Rs 20,000 donation during his speech. Later, the participants were treated to high tea arranged in the park.  --(CN report, Photo by GH Farooqi)
