Are we holier than the holy?

Fasting day longer in Chitral

CHITRAL,  04 Sept 08: Fasting day for Sunni Muslims which these days is about 14 hrs and 20 minutes long throughout the country is stretched further by 25 to 30 minutes here in Chitral.  The pre-dawn end of eating (Sehri) starts earlier and the break fast (Iftari) comes about late. Both these timings are commanded by the prayer call in the mosques( Azaan).

It has also been observed that even the above mentioned Azaans in different mosques are 20 to 30 minutes apart both at Sehri and Iftari thus creating confusion amongst the fast observers.

It is imperative that the religious authorities get together and decide about a unified time for both Fajar and Maghrib Azaans and bring the total fasting duration in line with the rest of the country, keeping the Sharia requirements in consideration, of course.  --(CN report)

Loadshedding continues at Sehri, Iftari: Loadshedding at Sehri and Iftari continues in Chitral town despite the Administrations announcement that it shall not be. The siren (hooter) also works at will sometime keeping quite at sehri and Iftari while on another day bleating at full strength. Similarly the supply of Water is not regular at both these crucial times. --(CN report)
