Are we time wasters
? -letter
Ref the news item titled 'Chitralis join province demand draft' in
which Chitralis have been termed as 'champion gossipers and time
wasters', I suggest we think, how many jobs we have created for
Chitralis and found no worker in Chitral. The few resourceful people
take their families to Islamabad to buy bangles and get their
clothes stitched in Peshawar. I was in Chitral few months back. For
construction work in a village in Chitral town I asked 5
people to come for work and more then 14 people turned up. Few years
back when I was working in Chitral, through my office I helped two
interested farmers open poultry farms. Within 2 years people on
their own expenditure opened 14 new poultry farms.
There is no leadership sincere to the public of the area, to create
job opportunities for people; every one keeps his own priorities on
top. If the Pathans Hazarawals can fight for their identity,
Chitralis also have the same right. In Hazara division agriculture
land is in less then 4% of area, neither there is abundance of
natural resources compared to Chitral. Still they are on the road
protesting for separate province.
Sacrificing self identity has never been that easy in history. I
have personally seen in Chitral many NGOs put every thing at risk to
protect the name of organization (s). Recently there was a war like
situation created to change the name of Government high School
Chital. Before giving title of time wasters to half million people
of Chitral, we must think how much we did on our part to make the
time of Chitralies valuable.

Chitralis
join the Province 'Demand Draft'
Chitral ---In
the wake of the current draft of demands engulfing the country,
whipping up arguments
for new provinces from every nook, Chitralis too have joined
the charade, beginning with private debates and arguments for and
against the new province wish. Those in favour of a separate province for Chitral argue
that this was an independent state once, so being a province would
be no big morsel for us. Those against the motion say we should be
practical and look south to open pastures instead of banging our
heads against barren mountains and end up in continued poverty . The debate is picking up and
champion gossipers and time wasters, the Chitralis, have a new topic
to while away time on.--(CN report, 18 Apr 10)
