Kalash celebrate spring festival

Chitral -- The endangered Kalash tribe of Chitral district began
their three day celebration of spring 'Chilimjusht' or 'Joshi'
festival in the three scenic valleys of Bumburet, Rumboor and
Bireer. The festival is a merry making and thanks giving occasion
heralding the arrival of spring and is marked by drinking and
dancing sessions. The final day of the festival at Bumburet on 15
May would see many eligible bachelors tie the not with their chosen
marital partners. Foreign tourists once found in abundance in these
places have now evaporated due to obvious security reasons. However
Pakistani tourists have arrived in the valleys in large numbers.
Amongst the visitors are officials of the government and private
institutions like banks etc who synchronize their visits to Chitral
with these occasions.
