Flood hit girls school still dysfunctional
Chitral --
Govt Girls High
School Reshun which was damaged by flood two years
ago is still under flood debris as a result over three
hundred girl students are studying using the already
crowded primary school building. During a debate in
Community participation workshop parents of these
students expressed their anger over the poor performance
of education department. It was also revealed that an
adjacent girls middle school was given on rent to one of
her relatives by the then Executive District Officer
Elementary and Secondary Schools Miss Gulsambar. The
building has however been vacated on the orders of the
present EDO.
A student of 9th class
told this scribe that she wanted to become a doctor to
serve the needy people but she was not sure that her
dream would ever come true because there is no Science
room, Laboratory, Library in the present primary school
which they are forced to use. More over there is no
staff room for teaching staff and female teachers
sitting in a tent during their free time. Students were
also badly suffering due to non availability of play
ground. Principal of the school Mrs Norshaba told this
scribe that not only students but her staff were also
badly suffering due to lack of facilities and shortage
of class rooms . Arifulla a social worker from the
community whose 3 daughters are studying in this school
told that we have time and again requested the district
administration for removing debris from high school
building and some 150000 fund also have been approved
but practically work is still awaited. He said that
there is no transport facilities for these girls
students who are coming from more than 15 kilometers
away from the school but usually they travel by feet in
this hot weather.--
