All parties
meeting on Ayun protest issue
Chitral-- An
all parties meeting discussed the Ayun crisis
and
with it's recommendations met the DCO and DPO to apprise them of the
same. Speakers spoke on different aspects of the crisis. Wg Cdr (r)
Fardad Ali Shah said Chitralis were by nature peaceful people and if
they are agitated for any reason the administration should try to
solve the issue peacefully and not be in a hurry to apply the
dreaded ATA on village protestors, which is not a good augury, he
said. As a result of the recommendation of the participants, the DCO
and DPO agreed to suspend the charges under Anti Terror Act (ATA)
against the protestors and agreed to set free the majority of the
detained protestors. Later members of the team met the detained
protestors in the local lockup and got their point of view.
However another meeting on the issue is scheduled for tomorrow
(Wednesday). The initiative to convene the All Parties meeting on
the issue was taken by Shahzada Sikander Ul Mulk. --
